Moon Room Update: Week Two

Hello Moon Room Families

It’s already time to welcome our second week of school! Especially exciting this week will be the start of our Specliast classes: World Language, Art, Music, Yoga, Creative Movement, and Physical Education.

The first days of school were about learning routines, getting to know one another, and establishing the tone for the year. Children have already been making friends, exploring Montessori materials, and bulding their independence in many ways. Friendship, in fact, is the virtue of focus for the month, and perhaps you have seen a few pics of our friendly classroom on SmugMug.

New and young students have been finding their place, while returning and older students have already had the opportunity to help peers. Everyone entered the long weekend on a high note.

In the days ahead, we will continue to help build our student’s independence and comfort in the classroom. During the morning arrival, we observe the children’s eagerness to engage in routines that help them settle into their day: changing into indoor shoes/slippers, placing water bottles in the classroom, and carrying lunches into the classroom, all on their own.

As we continue to acclimatize to our new school year, please ensure that each day your student has the following items:

A water bottle that the student can open independently

A packed lunch – each day this must be labelled with your child’s name and the date

Two extra sets of clothing (2 sets of underwear, 2 pairs of shorts/leggings, 2 t-shirts, 2 pairs of socksAdditionally, if you wish you may send the following optional items, and note that these should be collected and stored by a teacher rather than in the locker:

Bug repellent (there are still many mosquitos around)

Sunscreen

Thank you so much for working in partnership with us. Take care and let’s keep going through a wonderful September!–
