Middle School Humanities Teacher

For the 2026-2027 School Year, Oneness-Family Montessori School is seeking a a passionate and dedicated Middle School Humanities Teacher with expertise in Montessori education to inspire and guide students through their academic and personal growth. This role offers an exciting opportunity to foster a vibrant learning environment that emphasizes student-centered instruction, critical thinking, and cultural awareness. The ideal candidate will bring a dynamic approach to teaching humanities subjects, including history, geography, literature, and social studies, while integrating Montessori principles that promote independence, curiosity, and respect for diverse perspectives.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement engaging curricula aligned with Montessori philosophy and educational standards, incorporating innovative instructional strategies and learning technology tools.
- Design lesson plans that promote active learning, critical inquiry, and interdisciplinary connections across humanities disciplines.
- Foster a classroom environment conducive to respectful dialogue, collaboration, and individual student growth through effective classroom management and behavior guidance.
- Mentor students in developing strong writing skills, literacy education, and research abilities by integrating creative writing exercises and standardized testing preparation.
- Utilize assessment data to inform instructional design, differentiate instruction for diverse learners—including those in special education—and monitor student progress regularly.
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, school initiatives, and educational administration tasks to enhance the overall learning experience.
- Engage in ongoing professional development related to higher education teaching methods, linguistics, Chicago Manual of Style standards (for writing), and other relevant areas such as library services or education research.
- At least two years of experience teaching at the adolescent level, high school preferred
- Experience with Montessori, learner-centered, or progressive education preferred
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Humanities, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Proven classroom experience working with middle school students in a private school or Montessori setting.
- Strong knowledge of curriculum development, instructional design, and lesson planning tailored for middle school learners.
- Demonstrated expertise in classroom management, behavior management strategies, and literacy education techniques.
- Experience integrating learning technology tools to enhance instruction and student engagement.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to mentor students effectively and collaborate with colleagues.
- Organizational skills necessary for managing multiple responsibilities including academic advising and instructional planning.
- Additional qualifications such as experience in journalism, creative writing, linguistics or higher education teaching are advantageous; private school experience or Montessori certification is highly desirable. Part-Time American Sign Language Teacher

For the 2026-2027 School Year, Oneness-Family Montessori High School is seeking a part-time High School American Sign Language (ASL) Teacher to join our motivated and collaborative teaching team. The ASL Teacher will plan, teach, and oversee our ASL World Language Class for students in grades 9-12, within the framework of a Montessori Adolescent program. The ideal candidate can execute a student-centered, project-based, innovative program and possesses a flexible mindset and approach to learning.
Adults and students in our Montessori high school function in a community of learners in an atmosphere of mutual respect and support. The program provides a consistent, yet flexible, structure; high expectations for work and conduct; opportunities for student-led learning; and a focus on problem-solving. The curriculum is a project- and problem-based program that promotes independence, self-direction, metacognition, and critical thinking. At its core, the collective elements of the program are a means to build community, discover passion, deepen curiosity, and provide experiences for each adolescent to engage deeply and meaningfully in self-discovery.

Part-Time High School Math Teacher

For the 2026-2027 School Year, Oneness-Family High School in Kensington, Maryland, seeks a part-time Math Teacher Assistant to join our motivated and collaborative teaching team,
The Math Teacher will work with the High School faculty to plan, teach, and oversee the math curriculum from Grades 9-12 within the framework of a Montessori Adolescent program. Courses will range from Algebra 1 to Calculus, along with other interdisciplinary elective options, based on the candidate’s interests and expertise. While Montessori training is preferred, the ideal candidate can execute a student-centered, project-based, innovative program and possesses a flexible mindset and approach to learning.
The Montessori Adolescent Teacher accepts the challenge and the privilege of serving as a stable adult presence within the prepared adolescent environment. This professional is responsible for guiding the holistic development of the young people in the Adolescent Community as well as instructing students in academic disciplines.

Assistant & Afterschool Teacher, 3–6 Year Old Program

For the 2026-2027 School Year, Oneness-Family School in Chevy Chase, Maryland, seeks a full-time Assistant and After School Teacher for the 3-6 Year Old Program to carry out the School’s mission of peace education within the program.
For over 35 years, the Oneness-Family School has educated children to become leaders of tomorrow, and it is very proud of its richly diverse and international community of faculty, staff, and students.
This position is a 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM, Monday to Friday, regular schedule for 11 months, with the option to work additional hours for highly qualified candidates. Positive interaction with students, parents, faculty, staff, and visitors to the school is expected every day in every situation. This is a fantastic entry-level position with excellent opportunities for advancement in all fields of education. General aftercare duties also include transitioning to enrichment classes, outdoor playtime, snack, and a variety of other activities.
Qualities and characteristics of an ideal candidate:
- Childcare or teaching experience in a fast-paced professional setting where children come first (school, camp, summer pool, church, etc.)
- MSDE requirements for childcare and aftercare preferred.

Substitute Teacher

We are looking for dynamic, creative and dedicated substitute teachers to join our school.
Seeking substitute teachers for all of our grades and programs—from 2 years old, pre-school, pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, elementary grades 1st through 5th, and all the way up to high school. Montessori training preferred but not required. Different subbing opportunities are available for full day (8:00 am to 4:00 pm) and aftercare (3:00 pm to 6:00 pm) Monday through Friday, with opportunities for additional hours for event staffing and childcare.
Experience working with children required. Please outline your experience working with children in your cover letter. Those candidates for early childhood education grade levels with 45 hour and 90 hour training/certification will get precedence.
