Good afternoon.
In a week and a half, we will be heading to NYC for the MMUN Conference.
Here are some important reminders and updates:
Departure:
We will be leaving on Wednesday, March 11th, taking the Vamoose bus, departing from 7401 Waverly Street (at the corner of Montgomery Avenue, next to the parking garage entrance). Students should arrive at the bus stop with all of their belongings no later than 10:00 AM. We will depart Bethesda at 10:30 AM and should arrive at Penn Station between 2:30 and 3:00 PM. Students will need snacks and lunch for the bus ride.
Packing and attire:

You might notice that the closing ceremony is currently scheduled to happen at the hotel (rather than the UN). Currently, because of record unpaid contributions (UN Member States pay dues each year to support the work of the UN) the UN has had to dramatically cut budgets and there is no access on weekends. The MMUN staff are working to get access to the UN General Assembly Hall and if they are able to, the conference schedule will change.
Trip Commitment Form:
I attached a trip commitment with the expectations for all students from the OFS chaperones and the MMUN staff to the earlier “MMUN Trip Details” email. If a student and parent have not read through this form, signed it, and returned it to me, please do so before Wednesday, March 4th. I have attached the document to this email as well.
Trip Payment: (Specifically for parents)
Thank you to those who have submitted the payment for the trip. If you have not yet paid, please send in a check or pay by credit card using this link. Please submit payments by Friday, March 6th. If you are unable to pay by this date, please let me know.
Return Trip:
We will return to Bethesda on the Vamoose bus departing New York on Saturday, March 14th at 6:30 PM. The bus is scheduled to arrive in Bethesda at 10:30 PM. We will be in contact during our bus trip with updates. Students should be picked up at the bus stop Saturday night. If a student will be picked up by someone other than a parent, please let us know in advance of the trip if possible.
