Dear Families,
We hope this note finds you well. Thank you for your generosity last week during teacher appreciation week! We felt your kindness and thank you for thinking about us! We are honored to be working with your students.
Last week, your students presented their research on migration. Our focus is now geared towards Independent Study. Please find time to talk with your child about their topic, creative project and progress.
For fifth graders, we are expecting them to take notes and work on the creative project at home each evening Monday -Thursday over the next two weeks, for no more than 30 minutes per night. We provide ample class time as well. Our recommendation for homework is three-four nights per week for fifth graders and two nights per week for fourth graders. Perhaps your student wants to work on their project for two hours over the weekend instead. Please make a choice that is best for you and your family with the understanding that there is an expectation to expand beyond the four walls of the classroom.
We have decided upon Wednesday, June 3rd, from 9:00-11:30 for the Independent Study presentations. There will be a first and second group with a 40 minute intermission/social and refreshments in between.
If you have a preference for which part of the morning is best for your schedule, please let us know so that we can prioritize that. Each student will be given ten minutes and then we will send the formalized schedule out to families so that you can plan around it.
Thank you,
Andrea and Emiko
