Good evening.
We are looking forward to seeing everyone for conferences tomorrow and Friday. The students have worked hard to prepare for their conferences and we are looking forward to hearing from them and celebrating their successes.
We began Cycle 2 this week with learning about the process of meiosis — cell division that produces gametes — and how it compares to the process of mitosis — cell division that produces body cells. In future weeks, students will be using their understanding of meiosis as they explore genetics.
Important Dates and Reminders
Thursday, December 4th — Half-day for Student-Led Conferences
Dismissal for the Peace Ambassadors is at 11:50.
Friday, December 5th — No School for Student-Led Conferences
Tuesday, December 9th — Service On Campus
We will be on campus next Tuesday and will spend a couple of hours of the day working on a service project at school.
Festival of Lights Information
The annual Festival of Lights program is on Friday, December 19th. The program begins at 6:00 in the Sanctuary.
The Peace Ambassadors will be selling baked goods, savory snacks, and drinks (including hot chocolate) at the Holiday Bazaar which will be open from 5:30 until the program begins and again for half-an-hour after the program ends.
Pearl and Hannah will coordinate the drinks and paper products. We will need students/families to bring baked treats or savory snacks (think hors d’oeuvres that people might want to eat to hold them over til they are able to get dinner).
We will need students to work a shift to support the sale. The first shift will be for set-up and will begin at 4:30. The last shift will end when our clean-up is finished. If your adolescent is not able to work a particular shift, please let us know by next Monday, December 8th so we can plan shifts accordingly.
The Ambassador bands will have their dress rehearsals for Festival of Lights on Thursday, December 18th and Friday, December 19th during the school day. Please try to avoid planned absences on these days.
Secret Snowflake Gift Exchange
The students have decided that they want to have a Secret Snowflake gift exchange this year. Names of Secret Snowflakes will be drawn this week. The gift exchange will happen on Friday, December 19th. The guidelines the students decided on are:
-gifts may be homemade or purchased
-the maximum spending limit is $15
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out.
Take care.
Hannah and Pearl
