Dear OFS Community:

In view of the disturbing and rapidly changing events following the US election, which we know are impacting individuals in our community right now, we feel it is important to make a statement on behalf of our board, administration, and faculty.

Since its inception in 1988, Oneness-Family Montessori School has been built on some core principles and values that have formed the bedrock of our school’s vision and mission. These core principles and values include:

We believe in the inherent value of every person, and we seek to empower each member of our community to pursue their dreams.

We believe that our strength is in our diversity, and we intentionally build a community that is welcoming and inclusive.

We believe that everyone’s voice is important, and we recognize that it is easier for those of us with privilege to speak our minds without fear.

We believe that fostering compassion and courage is inherent to our mission, for these qualities enable people to build a world of love, peace, and justice.

We believe that people of all races, religions, ethnicities, sexual orientations, and gender identifications should always be safe in expressing who they are.

We believe that building a better world starts with building a community of interconnectedness, belonging, and well-being and that our students will carry the spirit of the school forward in their lives.

With these principles and values in mind, all of us at OFS—our board, admin, and faculty—remain 100% committed to our vision and mission and stand firm in all that has defined us over the past 36 years.

Rest assured that we will continue to provide the safe and welcoming learning environment we always have and that our community will always be based on love, respect, and appreciation. Essential school initiatives such as our Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging Task Force will continue their essential work with ever more vigor. We will also continue to be a resource and support for other schools that seek guidance and direction.

With your steadfast belief in our vision as well as your support and engagement, Oneness-Family Montessori School will continue to thrive and serve as a beacon of light.

Sincerely,

Andrew Kutt, Founder & Board Chair
