High School Social Studies Teacher

Oneness-Family High School in Kensington, Maryland, is looking to immediately hire an experienced high school Social Studies teacher for the remainder of the 2022-2023 school year and beyond. An experienced and talented high school teacher wanted for our new and growing high school, which opened in September 2017. Must have Montessori secondary diploma or be willing to train. Come join a dynamic team and help build an innovative and cutting-edge educational program.

The ideal candidates will have prior experience in a Montessori classroom setting, a love of learning, and leadership qualities that are evident not only in the classroom but also in the School as a whole.

Successful candidates will have:

  • A B.A. or B.S. in a related field;
  • At least five years of experience teaching and or working with high school students, preferably in the areas of world history, American history, civics, and other social sciences;
  • Strong team working skills and ability to join a collaborative team of educators who work together to realize OFHS' mission;
  • Experience developing and adapting curricula to create a meaningful learning environment for both individual and group student needs;
  • Desire and interpersonal skills to foster close working relationships with adolescent learners;
  • Personal interest in broad range of social studies as well as deep understanding of specific topics within history, civics, sociology, anthropology, psychology, etc.;
  • Experience in a diverse student learning environment with differentiated instruction and instructional innovation;
  • The ability to learn new skills quickly and to adapt easily to suit the needs of the environment or situation; 
  • The ability to develop systems, processes, and curriculum components when there is need for a change

Job Type: Full-Time, In-Person 

Education Requirement: Bachelor's degree (required), Montessori certification preferred, Fluent in English
