High School (Grades 9-12)

Oneness-Family School is dedicated to providing both a Hybrid Learning Plan and a Distance Learning Plan for our High School students. The Hybrid Plan is scheduled to begin once the Montgomery County virus metrics have met the guidelines for Hybrid Learning outlined in the school's Reopening Chart. This will be evaluated weekly. Please read below for specific information on each plan.

Hybrid Learning Plan

Due to the small size of our high school program, students and core teachers operate as a single pod. In-person classes on campus will be held Monday through Friday. The daily schedule for all students (Hybrid and Distance) will be the same and all core teachers will continue to teach classes to all students. Afternoon programs hosted by professionals outside the school will be hosted remotely to limit the exposure with students, and students will attend these programs through Zoom from campus.

As weather permits, students will gather outside at least once every other week for a day of abridged classes, group programs, and nature-oriented activities. In-person gatherings will take place both on campus and at different local nature centers, parks, and trails.

  • In-Person Classes: Weekly in-person, on-campus attendance will be from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday, with a lunch break, comfortable transition times, and at least half of each class reserved for work time. Beginning at 3:00 pm, afternoon programs vary throughout the week, including Well-Being, Leadership, Practical Life, Art, Physical Education, and Mental Health. Afternoon programs hosted by professionals outside the school will be hosted remotely to limit the exposure with students, and students will attend these programs through Zoom from campus.

  • Option for Distance Learning Classes: Students who elect to continue with the Distance Learning Plan while the Hybrid Learning Plan is operating will attend classes on campus through an array of cameras and microphones to ensure they can be an active presence in the classroom.

  • Schedule: Both the Distance Learning and Hybrid Learning Plans will operate on the same schedule.

  • Outdoor Meetups: There will be outdoor gatherings at least once every other week. Starting after Winter Break, all parents will be required to fill out the health form and take their child’s temperature at home before each outdoor meet-up. All students will need to have this health form filled out and their temperature taken in order to participate in the meet-up. We thank you for your attention to this additional safety measure as we enter the cold and flu season!

  • Arrival: In order to attend classes in person, students must have completed and submitted the online Health Form, including a temperature check, each morning before arriving on campus. Staff will then take each student’s temperature upon arrival before they enter the building.

Distance Learning Plan

Students in our Distance Learning Plan will continue with the current distance learning program. They will be taught by all core teachers and afternoon program leaders throughout the week, having the same daily schedule as the Hybrid Plan students.

Distance learning at the high school level will have a central focus on student well-being, balancing independently completed coursework with collaborative group activities that help to foster awareness of social-emotional development in the digital classroom and support students in maintaining their standards of academic rigor. For core courses and supplemental programs, students will use a range of digital tools designed to engage them with the material while continuing their “hands-on” work of Practical Life, Art, and Well-Being at home. Outdoor meetups every other week will continue in the Distance Learning Plan. As weather permits, students will gather outside at least once every other week for a day of abridged classes, group programs, and nature-oriented activities.

  • Distance Learning Classes: Core academic classes will run from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, Monday through Friday, with a lunch break, comfortable transition times, and at least half of each class reserved for off-screen work time. Beginning at 3:00 pm, afternoon programs vary throughout the week, including Well-Being, Leadership, Practical Life, Art, Physical Education, and Mental Health.
